Enjoy an incredible day in St Andrews, the home of golf and also the home of Scotland's oldest and arguably most famous university.
Shortly after we leave Edinburgh, we will drive to an outlook, offering splendid views over the three bridges spanning the Firth of Forth, including the iconic Forth Rail Bridge.
Thereafter we will travel through the East Neuk of Fife, an area famous for picturesque villages, arable and livestock husbandry, soft fruit growing and a magical coastline.
Upon arriving at St Andrews, enjoy a walking tour of this beautiful seaside town, famous throughout the world not only for golf, but also for its prestigious, historic university.
This beautiful corner of Scotland was also the Ecclesiastical centre of Scotland, home to the majestic former St Andrew's Castle, Bishop's Palace and to Scotland's largest and most impressive Cathedral.
After lunch we will hug the coastline and visit two delightful fishing villages, Anstruther and Crail.
Highlights
St Andrews is simply beautiful. Enjoy a walk through the medieval streets. Visit the ruins of the Castle and stand in front of the majestic Cathedral, the oldest in Scotland. , sadly ravaged during the Reformation, but still truly awe-inspiring.
Climb up St Rule's Tower, located within the cathedral precinct and enjoy panoramic views over this magical town. Visit the Museum, which houses a collection of medieval sculptures and other relics found on the site, including the magnificent St Andrews Sarcophagus dating back to the time of the Picts.
Alternatively, enjoy a walk along West Sands beach. Relax amongst the dunes before walking towards the world-famous Old Course, possibly glimpsing famous golfers enjoying a 4 ball match. Take photos of the iconic Swilken Bridge. Maybe visit the British Golf Museum.
After a pub lunch, our tour continues along the Fife coast towards the delightful villages of Anstruther and Crail. Timeless in their beauty, these historic harbours will delight you.
