Private Day Tour to Puffin Island from Edinburgh
About
Early morning , I will pick you up from either your hotel or from the cruise ship terminal and we will set off on magical wildlife adventure. We will make our way down the east coast of Scotland towards the enchanting seaside town of Seahouses in Northumberland.
From the harbour, we will embark on a three hour wildlife cruise, past several of the outer Farne Islands, until we arrive at Inner Farne, an incredibly important wildlife reserve that is home to many species of seabirds including Puffin, Eider, Razorbill, Guillemot, Shag, Kittiwake and Fulmar. There is also a very large colony of grey seals which breed through the autumn and winter months. Bring a picnic with you and watch the antics of the estimated 43,000 pairs of breeding puffins.
Highlights
Travel by boat through the Farne Islands. Land on Inner Farne, where you can wander across this tiny island, which is a renowned nesting ground for many different seabirds, especially puffins.
Enjoy views over the wide expanse of pristine Bamburgh Beach, backed by sand dunes and from where one can be mesmerised by the breath-taking views of Bamburgh Castle that dominates the skyline.
Enjoy a short visit to the village of Bamburgh, where you will find snug eateries and wee pubs on every corner and from where you will enjoy magnificent views of the impressive Bamburgh Castle.
Drive across the causeway to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, a tidal island of the northeast coast of England in Northumberland. Time permitting, wander through this unique, historic island, famous for its medieval religious heritage and the more recent picturesque 16th century Castle.
Tide permitting, we will then drive across the causeway to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, renowned as the cradle of Christianity in Anglo-Saxon England. St Aiden was invited by King Oswald to found the Lindisfarne Monastery on this tiny, tidal island in A.D.635.
